Hawaii's agreement lists the following species:
Endangered
- Hawaiian monk seal (Monachus schauinslandi)
- Hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)
- Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)
Threatened
- Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas)*
*Green turtles are listed as threatened, except for breeding populations of green turtles in Florida and on the Pacific coast of Mexico, where they are listed as endangered
Note: To be eligible for funding through the Species Recovery Grants program, species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) must be covered by the State's section 6 agreement. Proposed and candidate species that occur in the State do not need to be listed on the agreement to be eligible for funding.
