As a community-based nonprofit in a rural community, we place enormous value on the generosity of our community members. Our organization empowers youth to imagine and realize their full potential by connecting them with educational, leadership, and healthy lifestyle opportunities. We encourage our larger community to support rural youth education and development through #GivingTuesday instead of focusing on the material side of the holiday season.

Perry Nursery School prepares at-risk preschool children for future academic and social success while providing their parents opportunities for professional, personal, and parental growth. Perry Nursery's Gift-a-Wish program distributes gift cards to our parents/guardians to help them with their holiday shopping. All gift cards are donated by community members, businesses, and organizations. As a part of our Parent Empowerment Initiative, we feel that it's important for parents to be a part of holiday gift buying/giving for their own children. Our parents do not have the financial resources to buy the things they know will bring a smile to their child's face. By giving gift cards, our parents do not have to rely on someone else to do for them what they really want to do for themselves and their family. Thank you for helping!

The mission of Open Hands Legal Services, Inc. is to faithfully respond to God’s call to seek justice and defend the rights of the poor by providing legal services and counseling to the poor and indigent in New York City. Open Hands strives to achieve our mission by partnering with established community-based organizations who are already serving the non-legal needs of the poor, and making legal counseling services available as well. Through these partnerships with soup kitchens, food pantries and homeless shelters, and other service providers to low-income communities, we are making legal assistance accessible to individuals at community institutions with which they are already familiar, which allows us to develop stronger and more consistent relationships with the individuals we serve. Faithful execution of our mission positively impacts New York City by delivering much-needed legal services to those who lack them, while creating an opportunity for Christians in legal and other professions to serve their neighbors in a holistic environment in which the gospel message can be openly shared.

During the holidays, giving to the communities where we live and work is top of mind. As so many of our coworkers, families, friends, customers and community members have been affected by Sandy, getting involved in our communities this holiday takes on new meaning.
Through the American Red Cross, Gap Inc. has donated clothing and money of more than $1 million to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts and we are committed to the long-term recovery of impacted areas.
In addition, Gap has a new gift card program (http://gap.us/Td6Mhi) where a percentage of all initial gift card purchases will be donated to two nonprofit organizations—CARE and Communities In Schools.
Athleta’s “Power of Giving” holiday campaign celebrates the gift of empowerment (http://bit.ly/V4c0AF) by leading a donation drive to benefit Girls on the Run, a national non-profit encouraging a healthy lifestyle in pre-teen girls through running.
Together, through #GivingTuesday and our collective efforts we look forward to giving back this holiday season.
