What are the responsibilities of the U.S. Principal Party in Interest (USPPI) in a routed export transaction?

They are responsible for the following:

  • Provide basic commodity information to the forwarding or authorized agent for completing the EEI (Electronic Export Information)/AES record, including name, EIN, Schedule B number and value, excluding  ultimate consignee.
  • Maintain documentation to support information provided to the forwarding or authorized agent.
  • In a routed export transaction, the U.S. Principal Party in Interest is not required to provide the forwarding or authorized agent with a power of attorney or written authorization.
