Risk Reduction

The RRP supports the Army's Substance Abuse Program initiatives by integrating prevention and intervention programs into a framework contributing to the four institutional outcomes of performance, readiness, retention, and recruiting.

The Risk Reduction Program originated as a reengineering effort at Ft Campbell, KY in 1994 to address a series of high risk incidents. The Army Center for Substance Abuse (ACSAP) expanded the program as a tool to prevent, reduce, and manage high risk soldier behaviors. The Risk Reduction Program promotes a prevention-focused approach when dealing with personal problems and promotes focused and coordinated actions on the part of installation agencies and the chain of command in battalions with high risk profiles.

  • Risk Reduction Program Coordinator

The RRPC works in coordination with the ASAP and Installation Prevention Team (IPT) staff to implement, facilitate and coordinate the Risk Reduction Program policies.

  • Risk Reduction Program

The RRP is a tool to help Commanders reduce high-risk behavior in their Soldiers. It has evolved into an efficient way of assisting Commanders in ascertaining and addressing high-risk behavioral problems.

  • Public Slide Presentations

Slides that are used during briefings by ACSAP via PowerPoint.

  • Risk Reduction Reports

A compilation of reports used to summarize results from data entry in the ACSAP system.

  • URI/R-URI

The Unit Risk Inventory (URI) is a 53 question survey that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The URI helps further identify the specific problems that are most prevalent in a unit. The R-URI is an 80 item anonymous questionnaire designed to screen for high-risk behaviors and attitudes affecting unit readiness and personal well being that may have occurred during deployment or since redeployment.
