NEW! Arrival/Departure Procedures

In order to provide for the safety and security of all Maxwell Elementary/Middle School students and their family members, the following arrival and departure policies are effective immediately.

ARRIVALS

There are no changes to arrival procedures for bus riders.

Car Riders, Walkers, Bikers

Due to duty day requirements and designated hours for MEMS faculty and staff, supervision cannot be provided for any students who are not eating school breakfast prior to 7:45AM.

School breakfast eaters will be allowed to enter the side Magnolia street covered door at 7:35AM.

All others will NOT be allowed to enter the side Magnolia door until 7:45AM.

This door will be attended from 7:35AM through the 8:05AM tardy bell, daily.

The corner 4th/5th grade hall door which faces Handley Street will NO LONGER be used for arrivals!

All car riders, walkers and bikers will enter daily through the side Magnolia street covered door.

Any parents arriving for business in the morning will continue to enter and sign in at the front desk at the main Handley Street door.

In an effort to increase the safety of all students, please remind all walkers and bike riders to utilize all crosswalks.  Bike riders should dismount and walk their bikes across all crosswalks.

DEPARTURES


On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of each week, car riders and BUS 1 riders will be called to their dismissal areas at 2:50PM.

Remaining buses will be called at 2:52PM.

Last call for buses will be at 2:57PM.

After a final visual sweep by staff for bus riders, buses will be dismissed.

 At this time, walkers and bike riders grades 1-8 will be called to their dismissal door at the end of the 4th/5th grade hall on Handley Street.

 On Thursdays (early dismissal)

Car riders and BUS 1 will be called at 1:45PM.

Remaining buses will be called at 1:47PM.

Last call for buses will be at 1:52PM.

Walkers and Bike riders will be called to the Handley Street dismissal door after the buses have been released.

KINDERGARTEN WALKER AND BIKER RIDER DISMISSAL

Kindergarten walkers and bike riders will be escorted from their classroom at 2:50PM (M,T,W,F) and  1:45PM (Thursday) to the large glass doors outside the cafeteria service entrance (facing Handley Street) for hand to hand dismissal to their parent or guardian upon arrival at this location.

This location provides a spot where the Kindergartners can safely be handed off to parents/guardians within view of the other walker/bike riders but from a separate door closer to their classrooms.
