MA DOR Helps Speed Fuel Relief to Hurricane Sandy Victims

Massachusetts Revenue Commissioner Amy Pitter today announced that the agency is making it easier for fuel exporters to pick up gasoline and special fuels in Massachusetts to deliver to victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey.

The Department of Revenue will expedite the issuance of both exporter licenses and waive the  application fees. License applications are available on the DOR website Gasoline Fuel ApplicationSpecial Fuels Application. Applicants can fax copies of completed applications to the Miscellaneous Excises Unit (617) 887-5039 or for same day processing email unit staff Steve Pawlowski pawlowskis@dor.state.ma.us, Janet Sydney sydneyj@dor.state.ma.us, Robert Carr carrro@dor.state.ma.us and James Murphy murphyjj@dor.state.ma.us  with the following information:

  • Type of License (gasoline or special fuels)
  • Name of licensee
  •  Address
  • Federal Identification Number
  • Export Destination State

Applicants are advised to expressly indicate that they are seeking a temporary license for the purpose of this relief effort and include a fax number where the license can be sent. DOR will not require a bond for either license which will expire December 31, 2012.

DOR will also waive the license and decal requirements for IFTA motor carriers to transport fuel on Massachusetts state highways until December 31, 2012 and will notify Massachusetts state police which enforce these requirements.
