Superintendent
Kevin Maxwell Sets Goal of Topping 4-Million Pound Mark in
Harvest for the Hungry Donations
Schools Superintendent Kevin Maxwell has challenged schools and school system offices and departments to collect enough food and raise enough funds in this year's Harvest for the Hungry “Kids Helping Kids" food campaign to propel the school system past the 4-million-pound mark in donations since 2009.
To meet the goal, schools and departments will need to account for 1.2 million pounds in donations this year. Each dollar donated counts as eight pounds of food.
We have routinely led the state in this effort, which is critical to helping ensure that every child can focus on academic work in our classrooms", Dr. Maxwell said. Students who are hungry and wondering where their next meal will come from cannot very well be expected to devote their full attention to their studies, and we have the ability in this county to do something about that. I am proud of what we have accomplished in this regard, and urge other businesses and agencies to join with us in this year' drive.
