Information Science & Technology Institute (ISTI)

Working closely with LANL's Information Science and Technology Center and line organizations across LANL, the Information Science and Technology Institute (ISTI) engages in, implements, and/or broadly fosters collaborative research, capability and workforce development, technical exchange, program development activities, and institutionally-focused strategic planning.

The Information Science and Technology Institute is a collection of educational institutes covering a range of fields including:

  • Information Science and Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Computational Science
  • Applied Mathematics

The ISTI consists of a collection of highly successful, strategic partnerships with leading research universities focused on IS&T topic areas of critical importance to the future of LANL including, but not limited to the following:

  • Extreme Scale Data Management
  • High Performance Computing
  • Data Intensive Computing
  • Computational Co-design
  • Reliability and Resilience at Scale
  • Algorithms and Methods including Informatics
  • Multi-core and Hybrid Computing

IS&T is a key capability that underlies overall scientific leadership and achievement across scientific domain areas. Through its strategic partnerships, ISTI works to facilitate and enhance scientific collaboration and scholarship and workforce development (recruiting, retention, and revitalization) through a breadth of targeted activities, interactions, and programs.
