This is a Term Appointment NTE 13 months, however this appointment may be extended, for no more than 4 years total.
The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) at the U.S. Department of Commerce is a job creating, globally-focused, transaction-oriented agency that fosters the growth and global competitiveness of businesses owned and operated by members our nation’s minority, diaspora communities. MBDA accomplishes its mission by providing economic input that stimulates the creation of new jobs. Specifically, MBDA offers access to contracts, capital, and new international and domestic markets. In addition, the agency manages a national network of MBDA Business Centers staffed with business experts who provide targeted clients with sophisticated strategic business consulting services designed to assist the business owner in growing their businesses to size and scale. This position is located in the Office of the National Director (OND), head of the agency and its senior management team and fulfills a critical role in these efforts by managing the administrative activities of the office, while assisting with the coordination of multiple initiatives that encompass various agency international and domestic goals. The convergence and intersection of agency goals across multiple MBDA offices requires the incumbent to serve in an executive support role on behalf of the National Director or the National Deputy Director, taking leadership in streamlining communication between senior staff and individual offices to meet the needs of staff, customers, and stakeholders. The incumbent will be a primary liaison in the development of relationships with international and domestic stakeholders, including CEO’s of Fortune 500 and substantial client companies, private equity and venture capital firms, family office representatives and sovereign wealth funds, foreign delegations, ambassadors, Secretaries of federal government agencies, Commerce Bureau Assistant Secretaries and others. In addition, the incumbent will manage specific projects, official schedules, executive travel and other responsibilities of the National Director.
