Welcome to Proctor Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District welcomes you to Proctor Lake, located in Comanche, Texas. Our mission: to provide flood control to the North Central Texas area, supply water to the communities in Comanche, Erath and Hamilton Counties, and to offer some of the best fishing, camping and boating in Texas.

  • COPPERAS CREEK PARK: East side of park (sites 1-36 and group shelter #1) is closed for the off-season until April 1, 2013. West side of park (sites 43-66) open for walk-in camping; group shelter #2 and sites 37-42 available for reservation.

  • SOWELL CREEK PARK: Sowell Creek Park will be closed from October 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013 due to construction project. Closure includes both the campground and the day use are. However, the day use boat ramp will remain open. Reservations will be accepted for reservable sites beginning October 15, 2012 for arrival dates after January 31, 2013.

  • PROMONTORY PARK: Closed for the off-season until April 1, 2013.

  • HIGH POINT PARK: Day use horse and hiking trail parking allowed at the main entrance.

The Recreation.gov website has an entirely new look with features including simplified search capabilities, enhanced content and streamlined Google maps.  Visitors to the website can now do much more than make reservations for camping, tours and tickets at federal facilities.  The Corps has almost 30,000 reservable campsites in Recreation.gov and there is a wealth of information about Corps water resources projects.  More details on the new features added to the Recreation.gov website may be found under the “New Look! In accordance with Texas Transportation Code, Golf Carts are not allowed to be operated on Public Roadways at Corps of Engineers Projects.
