USGS Energy Geochemistry Database
USGS Energy Geochemistry Database
Natural Resources
Rock-Eval pyrolysis, Geochemistry, Coal Quality, ...
Since January of 1989, the U.S Geological Survey (USGS) Energy Resources Program Geochemistry Laboratory Data Base has grown to contain the analytical data for over 200,000 samples worldwide. The Energy Geochemistry Data Base (EGDB) contains chemical analysis data for crude oil, natural gas, coal, water, and rock samples analyzed by the USGS Energy Resources Team's Geochemistry Laboratory, or by contracted-service laboratories. Data was also obtained from the literature and unpublished public domain sources. The sample types included are primarily rock, coal, oil, and gas. This information is used by the USGS for worldwide energy resource assessments and is periodically released to the public. Analytical data within the EGDB includes Rock-Eval pyrolysis, organic mass spectrometry, vitrinite reflectance, gas chromatography, stable carbon isotopes, inductively coupled plasma, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, mercury analysis and a number of other related geochemistry analyses that, in some instances, predate the EGDB. Throughout the years the Energy Program scientists have utilized these data to not only develop an understanding of the physical and geochemical processes responsible for hydrocarbon formation. but also as a tool to assess the oil and gas potential for sedimentary basins in both national and international settings.

Species Information System (SIS)
Species Information System (SIS)
Natural Resources
stock, rebuilding, stock assessment, MSY, ...
The Species Information System (SIS) consists of a web-enabled database (login required) and a public web portal that provides scientists, resource managers, and the general public with user-friently applications for data entry, retrieval, and reporting. SIS acts as a central data repository to collect and manage data across NOAA Fisheries program offices at the regional and national levels. The data housed within SIS includes the most up-to-date information on stock assessments, resource surveys, fisheries catch, stock status, and other management parameters, as well as a growing collection of historical records. SIS is cross-linked with other existing NOAA database tools, including the Fishery-Independent Survey System (FINSS), to increase the reporting utility of both tools.

EPA Water Services - Upstream/Downstream Service
EPA Water Services - Upstream/Downstream Service
Natural Resources
WATERS, Downstream, Watershed, SOAP, Web Services, ...
The WATERS Web and Database services provide open interfaces to complex analyses. These services make extensive use of the NHD and referenced program data in the RAD, and also integrate other WATERS program data. Designed as loosely coupled modular units, the services are developed in a common architecture. The Upstream/Downstream service is designed to provide standard stream network traversal and discovery functions. The traversal request may include a description of where, on the stream network, to begin the traversal, a description of where or how to end the traversal, and a list of one or more formats for the returned results. The Upstream/Downstream service receives the stream network traversal request, performs the traversal, and returns the requested results. The Upstream/Downstream service is an elemental function to be used by applications as a stand alone service or in combination with other WATERS (Watershed Assessment, Tracking & Environmental ResultS) services. All Upstream/Downstream executions require a navigation type and at least one start point. All other input parameters are optional.
