185th Air Refueling Wing

Sioux Gateway Regional Airport is Home for the Iowa Air National Guard's 185th Air Refueling Wing. The wings main mission is to provide mid-air refueling and mobility sustainment in direct support of the global mission of the Air Force. As a community based organization the wing and its subordinate units are also tasked to support the state of Iowa in the event of a state emergency.

               185th Air Refueling Wing
tab185th Operations Group 
The "Ops Group" mission is to provide in-flight refueling, cargo airlift, and passenger movement all around the globe. Operations also provides administrative, intelligence, crew life support, combat communications & airfield management functions in support of the unit's flying mission.
tab185th Medical Group 
The 185th Medical Group provide basic lab work, immunizations, audiograms, dental evaluations, physical exams, bioenvironmental shop visits and public health services to all airmen.  The staff includes nurses, EMTs, physicians, physician assistants and flight surgeons.
tab185th Force Support Squadron  
The Force Support Squadron provides a wide-range of personnel services for 185th members, sister services, family members and retirees.During deployment operations and natural disasters, they obtain and report accountability of personnel to higher headquarters. They develop and maintain the base fitness, nutrition, and lodging programs, ensuring all members of the 185th are physically and metally fit-to-fight. They also manage the 185th honor guard team, which provides dignified funeral rights to honor our fallen airmen and soldiers and present the colors during military ceremonies and special events.
tab185th Logistics Readiness Squadron 
The 185th Logistics Readiness Squadron includes transportation, fuels, aerial port, readiness, supply, and vehicle management. They provide everything from the fuel and parts for aircraft to loading and unloading aircraft passengers and cargo. They receive, store, deliver and ship all assets for the 185th Air Refueling Wing. They also equip the unit with uniforms and chemical warfare defense equipment to perform their duties here and in the war zone. They also manage the Space Available (Space-A) program, which offers all military members and retirees opportunities to travel on our aircraft to anywhere from Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe to various stateside locations.
tab185th Maintenance Group 
The 185th Maintenance Group is a world class aircraft maintenance facility, recognized around the Air Force for excellence. The aircraft continue to receive upgrades that will keep it a viable weapons system in the Air Force arsenal for years to come by replacing obsolete components with the latest digital avionics technology for increased safety, efficiency and reliability.
tab185th Civil Engineering Squadron 
The 185th Civil Engineering Squadron develops and maintains base facilities for military aircraft and personnel support. Their engineering trades consist of: structures, heating/air conditioning and ventilation, interior and exterior electrical, power production, utilities, fuels distribution, site development, heavy equipment and pavements, entomologists, fire fighters, emergency management and base operations personnel.
tab185th Security Forces Squadron 
The 185th Security Forces is responsible for base security. Equipped with the latest weapons and surveillance devices, they stand ready to deter and counter any threat. They are also responsible for law enforcement on the base. Its members receive specialized training in percussion rifle engagement, surveillance, and close-in security for Air Force aircraft.
tab185th Fire Emergency Services 
The 185th Fire Emergency Services provides aircraft rescue fire fighting support for all aircraft operations at Sioux Gateway Airport and Col. Bud Day Field. This includes all military, commercial and general aviation aircraft. Its services also include the capability to conduct structural firefighting, emergency medical response, hazardous materials response, confined space rescue and high and low angle rope rescue. They are also an integral part of the Tri-State Disaster Committee; assisting where possible in disaster planning and training exercise execution.
tab185th Communications Flight 
The 185th "Com Flight" handles all of the telephones, computers, radios, and related infrastructure to support the communication needs of the 185th and its flying mission. Its job specialties consist of network operations, knowledge operations, cyber security, cyber transport, wireless transmissions and client systems support.
