The FRG mission is to:
- act as an extension of the unit in providing official, accurate command information
- provide mutual support between the command and the FRG membership
- advocate more efficient use of community resources (on and off the installation)
- help Families solve problems at the lowest level.
The FRG is:
- a welcoming organization
- an information conduit
- a self-help, referral organization
- a source of social support and group activities
- a unit Family dedicated to achieving both social and military goals.
Participation in the FRG is voluntary, however it can be beneficial in three ways.
- The FRG conducts activities that enhance the flow of information between the command and Families (meetings, newsletters, social rosters, phonetrees).
- The FRG encourages resilience among it’s members by providing information, referral assistance and mutual concern (networking).
- The FRG provides activities and support that enhances the well-being and espirit de corps within the unit.
The FRG provides a connection to the unit for Families where they can get important information, develop strong friendships, and receive moral support.
FRGs educate and support Family Members to help them become more resilient and better able to cope with deployments.
This support can help to reduce Soldiers’ stress and enable them to better focus on their mission, giving them peace of mind.
Updated social rosters and phonetrees are of the greatest importance to effectively communicate accurate information. Commanders, FRG Leaders and FRSAs must have accurate contact information for every Spouse or Primary Contact of Soldiers assigned to the unit.
FRG Leadership addresses rumor control and eliminates it by speaking directly to the Commander or RDC for clarification or guidance.
