Description

The Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, and Safety Professionals: Making the Connection with Health Promotion - the Healthy Worker Module provides CP-12 careerists with valuable skills that can be incorporated directly to their job responsibilities.

This online module is provided using Blackboard and is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to assist in developing and implementing health promotion activities in order to eliminate or mitigate health risks in the workplace and to ensure that worker exposures documented by the IH are not unknowingly affected by confounders that may be potentiated. This module is designed for industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety professionals.

Objectives: (TLOs)

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

1. Define the terms health and health promotion

2. Explain the relationship between worker health and health promotion and wellness

3. List the benefits of merging health promotion and occupational health and safety (OHS) programs

4. Describe the stages of change that impact worker health

5. Discuss unhealthy behaviors that are the confounders which potentiate worker exposure in the workplace

6. Demonstrate the use of health promotion and wellness activities or exercises that support worker health

7. State how to access health education and wellness materials and resources available though the Army or DoD community.
