Suzuki News

Suzuki is the automotive division of Suzuki Motor Corporation based in Hamamatsu, Japan. Michio Suzuki founded the company in 1909 producing weaving looms, then explored producing a passenger car in 1937 before the onset of World War II. After the war, Suzuki began developing motorcycles and eventually cars with the introduction of the 1955 Suzulight. The company entered the US market in 1985 with the Samurai and produced vehicles for other manufacturers under contract like the Chevrolet Sprint, a rebadged version of the Suzuki Cultus. American Suzuki Motor Corporation filed for bankruptcy protection in 2012 and announced it would no longer sell new vehicles in the US. Its Canadian operations folded a short time later.

Official: Suzuki Vitara shows its face ahead of Paris debut
    1409232600

The death of Suzuki's American automotive operations can be chalked up to many, many things. One thing it cannot be blamed on, however, is the arguable goodness of its products. The company's criminally underrated offerings included the Kizashi sedan, the SX4 compact and your author's personal favorite, the Grand Vitara. The GV rode on a radically ...

Recalls: Suzuki Kizashi recalled due to pesky spiders
    1409167800

Spiders seem to love the fuel tanks of Japanese sedans. Mazda had to recall its Mazda6 twice for arachnid webs blocking their car's vent lines. Now, the Suzuki Kizashi is also being called in because spiders can block the car's evaporative canister vent hose, a condition which could cause excessive negative pressure in the tank, eventually leading to a ...

Two Wheels: Ugly Moto makes beautiful motorcycle art [w/video]
    1399590960

Ugly Moto is a horrible name for a company that makes such wonderful motorcycle art. The creation of artist Francis Ooi, the company's illustrations focus on some of the iconic racing bikes of the 1960s and 1970s. The artwork has an elegant simplicity that really makes it pop. It would fit just about anywhere from a home office to the bedroom of a young ...

Video: Suzuki Jimny displays Samurai spirit in Japanese snowstorm
    1392919260

Say what you will about its smallest SUVs, but you have to hand it to Suzuki: the likes of the Samurai, Sidekick and Vitara were doing the little-sport-ute-that-could thing long before most of the rest of the industry caught on. And the formula remains relevant enough that Suzuki is still selling the same basic Samurai overseas as the Jimny. That could ...

    1385852580

While turbocharging and supercharging may be nothing new in the automotive industry, motorcycle engines are almost always naturally aspirated. But even that's beginning to change. Suzuki EXTRIGGER concept makes a monkey of electric motorcycles
    1383157800

Small is big, monkey bikes are the new black. After years of being relegated to cob-webbed tales told by speckled-bearded men that begin with "Back when we was kids..." (and typically involving a Honda Z50 soaring skyward to miraculous heights), the petite low-power/high-fun concept is making a comeback. The latest sign of this renaissance is the ...

It's with some sadness that we present to you the Suzuki iV-4 Concept – there's absolutely no way we'll ever see a production Suzuki based off this conceptual design in the States, despite the fact that the brand has quite a small-SUV heritage on our shores. Rumormill: Suzuki considering Cappuccino revival?
    1376429520

It's not a secret that a few of us here at Autoblog have a crush on Japanese Kei cars. The diminutive sizes and cheeky looks of most of the segment are certainly endearing factors, but it was the sporting Kei cars of the 1990s that made for the most delicious forbidden fruit. Suzuki's entry in that time and market space was the Cappuccino, a ...
