Thumbnail preview ANNOTATION: Results are presented from the first study to look at what happens when law enforcement trainees inhale while being exposed to electronic control devices (ECDs). Findings cover volitional breathing, inspiratory and expiratory volumes, and heart rate. “In contrast to reports suggesting respiration is unaffected by ECDs, present evidence suggests that voluntary inspiration is severely compromised. [Normal breathing patterns ceased.] There is no evidence of cardiac disruption during-ECD exposure” (p. 3).
