Reaching Potentials through Recommended Practices Observation Scales

These tools were developed to provide coaches with a rubric for assessing the implementation of a sub-set of the DEC Recommended Practices that were identified as being most proximally related to child engagement in the learning opportunities provided by a caregiver or classroom teacher. These tools might be used by other programs who are interested in this set of the DEC Recommended Practices or might inspire the development of a similarly structured tool that focuses on a different set of practices.

A message from the ECTA Center's Director

January 9, 2016

Photo: Megan Vinh

ECTA Center is beaming with pride that one of our own, Megan Vinh, has been elected Vice President of the DEC Executive Board!

Megan's role as an Associate Director at ECTA includes improving state systems, increasing implementation of effective practices, and enhancing child and family outcomes. She’s also Co-PI of the RPM project, leading the development of online modules for PD providers to embed the DEC Recommended Practices Modules into their coursework and PD. Megan and aRPy had a great time at DEC!

We also want to give a shout-out to Chelsea Guillen, who was elected to Member at Large of the DEC Board. Chelsea is one of 16 state aRPy Ambassadors collaborating with ECTA to disseminate the DEC Recommended Practices, and products to promote them, in their states.
