Understanding HUD's IT Standards

HUD uses certain systems and software to conduct daily business. Many of these technologies, like spreadsheets and word processors, are so familiar that we take them for granted as part of our everyday work routine. In those situations, IT staff have already selected a standard for HUD and its employees.

But sometimes, to improve our services to both employees and customers, we need to develop new systems or implement software that is new to the Department. In those situations, it's important for our project managers and contractors to know the different platforms and environments in which HUD operates to select the best options for the project. New technology needs to be tested in the right environment and must be cleared through the right channels to ensure the best outcome.

This section gives you a birds-eye view of HUD's IT infrastructure to help you understand the world of standards. HUD's Configuration Change Management Board (CCMB) is the governing body that is responsible for the approval of HUD TRM IT Modernization Standards Profile.
