August 10, 2009 – Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today that the United States Senate unanimously confirmed Dr. Francis Collins as the next Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Collins is well known in the thalassemia community and was a CAF Medical Research Fellow from 1984 to1986. |
