Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award, Orissa Vigyan Academy and Department of Science, Technology and Environment of the Government of Orissa, India - Dr. Bhakta Rath "for his valuable contributions in the field of scientific research, which have been considered the most outstanding among all the contributions made by the scientists outside the state of Orissa, India."

Dr. Arthur E. Bisson Prize for Naval Technology Achievement - Dr. John Montgomery "for his leadership of the Navy's premier laboratory for EW technology, which conducts of a comprehensive program of research and development."

American Philosophical Society's Magellanic Premium Award - Mr. Roger Easton for "contributions to creating the Global Positioning System."

Elias Burnstein Prize, University of Pennsylvania Graduate Student Award - Dr. Anthony Dinsmore "for innovative experimentation elucidating the effects of entropy in colloidial suspensions."

Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), Distinguished Technical Achievement Award - Dr. Burton Hurdle "for his outstanding contributions to understanding the oceanography and acoustics of the Nordic Seas."

Vice President's Hammer Award - NRL's Radar Division for involvement in the NATO Seasparrow Surface Missile System (NSSMS) Capability Modernization program, and for contributions to building a government that works better and costs less.
