New ‘Green’ HQ’s building nears completion

The new $7.4 million 433rd Headquarters Building, which is scheduled to open in late summer, was built according to standards established by the U.S. Green Building Council based in Washington, D.C. The design standard called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED, is designed to maximize energy efficiency and make the most of renewable, sustainable resources such as low-flow plumbing fixtures and zero or drought tolerant landscaping. Last enlisted member from Vietnam War retires from Alamo Wing

Master Sergeant Bob Kane, the last enlisted member from the 433rd Airlift Wing to serve in the Vietnam War, retired on Saturday, Jan. 7 from the Air Force Reserve. Kane joined the Air Force in August 1970 and was a C-130 Hercules mechanic during the conflict. "I couldn't have done any of this without you," he said in his farewell speech to family, colleagues and friends gathered at the Cargo Load Trainer Facility, Building 819 at Lackland AFB, Texas. Former Chief of Air Force Reserve is guest speaker for Alamo Wing 60th annivesary dinner

Retired Lt. Gen. James E. Sherrard III, is all smiles after being presented the official military coin commemorating the 433rd Airlift Wing 60th Anniversary. Sherrard was the official guest speaker at the Alamo Wing's anniversary dinner held Sept. 10, 2011, at the Gateway Club at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
