Mr. Brian Perry
I am excited that you have chosen to visit our Pierce Terrace Elementary website. Pierce Terrace will continue to update and use this website to communicate with you and share the great things that are happening with our students. This website is a huge piece of our efforts to keep families fully informed about our students, staff, and community as well as upcoming events.
Let me begin by saying that I take the responsibility and challenge of leading Pierce Terrace Elementary. The Pierce Terrace Faculty and Staff will make every effort to ensure our students achieve at the highest level.
Pierce Terrace Elementary serves a diverse population of PreK-2nd grade students who reside on Fort Jackson located in Columbia, South Carolina. In addition to the general education classroom, we also offer a Pre School for Students with Disabilities (PSCD), Speech/Language services, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Special Education services. Our specialist programs include Art, Music, Physical Education, and Foreign Language for Elementary Students (FLES). Counseling services are provided for each class and individually based on the needs of our students.
Improving Student Achievement is our number one priority and Pierce Terrace is fully committed and engaged in Continuous School Improvement (CSI). We use our Vision, DoDEA’s Mission, and the 7 AvancED Standards for Quality Schools to guide our improvement efforts. As we follow the DoDEA curriculum standards for each grade level, we continuously look at our students and how they are achieving in relation to those standards. We have implemented a comprehensive data collection system that allows us to monitor student achievement, and identify areas where we need to differentiate instruction for our students. As a school we have identified two academic goals, reading comprehension and problem solving, as our areas of focus.
