Program Description
The North Dakota Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible individuals and families with heating and insulation related costs in the winter, and cooling costs in the summer. Last year about 14,200 low-income households in North Dakota participated in the state program, and individual tribal LIHEAP programs served tribal members living on reservations in the state.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of North Dakota, you must need financial assistance for home energy costs and your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $21,079 if one person lives in the household; $27,564 if two people live in the household; $34,050 if three people live in the household; $40,536 if four people live in the household; $47,022 if five people live in the household; $53,508 if six people live in the household, or $54,724 if seven people live in the household; and $55,940 if more than eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $1,216 for each additional person in the home.
