MBDA Helping Minority Businesses Grow: Marion Trucking & Construction
Read additional success stories.
As the only Federal agency with the sole task of promoting the growth and global competitiveness of the minority business community, MBDA takes great pride in its mission. With 46 centers nationwide, MBDA has a direct impact on businesses throughout the country, with a particular focus on those that are poised to expand.
Over the past 40 years, MBDA has helped thousands of minority-owned businesses grow and has increased contracting and capital access opportunities for MBEs by more than fifteen percent from a year ago. MBDA also has helped to create nearly 6,000 new jobs while saving thousands of existing jobs.
MBDA Director David A. Hinson is challenging MBDA centers and clients to think outside of the norm in order to expand businesses and create new jobs. Hinson stated, “I deeply believe in these principals. Today, we have a window of opportunity to change the world. We can create an entire generation of $100 million and larger minority-owned businesses across industries.”
Happy New Year!
As I begin my second full year leading the Minority Business Development Agency, I want to take a moment to express how honored I am to work with the Agency’s network of minority business centers and our public and private sector partners on behalf of the minority business community. Minority-owned firms continue to grow and flourish despite tough economic conditions.
112th Congress
With the election of 104 new Representatives and Senators, the 112th Congress will be marked with changes in both the House of Representatives and Senate following the November elections.
Please Comment on Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Agency Implementation Plans
On behalf of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (Initiative), I would like to invite you to submit comments to agency plans posted online at www.aapi.gov under “Agency Implementation Plans” in the right-hand column. In order for the federal government to take meaningful steps, it is critically important that the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community provide feedback to help guide the final review.
Senator Casey and Director Hinson Discuss Minority Business Development with Philadelphia Business Owners
PHILADELPHIA, PA – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) joined David Hinson, National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency, to meet with minority business leaders and small business owners from Philadelphia to discuss ways in which Congress and the federal government can stimulate growth of minority businesses in Philadelphia and the Commonwealth. Senator Casey discussed legislation to protect minority and women-owned businesses and help them succeed in creating jobs in Pennsylvania.
“I am pleased to be joined today by Director Hinson as we discuss issues vital to business owners in Philadelphia,” said Senator Casey. “Especially in the current economic climate, supporting small businesses is vital to our economic recovery. Today we had a great dialogue on how we can help small and minority-owned businesses by protecting them from fraud and providing support for them to grow and create jobs.”
