W. W. Ashurst Elementary School
Kathy Downs, Principal
Four Winds Interactive Weather System
In November of 1998, Ashurst Elementary was fortunate to be chosen to participate in the Four Winds Interactive Weather System. Through the sensor monitors found on the roof of the modular building, the students can monitor the weather. The weather station can also be connected to all other schools in the area, the country, or the world. Students can compare or forecast the weather. The station can be used to access historical data, graph information, or to define terms. It is actively used every morning as part of our WKID television broadcast.
Our school is proud to belong to the New York & Virginia DDESS, the Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools, and the Department of Defense Education Activity.
