133rd Airlift Wing

Utilizing the C-130 Hercules, the 133rd Airlift Wing provides the U.S. Air Force with tactical airlift of troops, cargo and medical patients, along with expeditionary combat support in communications, security forces and civil engineering worldwide. The Wing is prepared to directly support the state of Minnesota with Airmen, aircraft and equipment during times of crisis. Its expeditionary mission is to provide to the Air Force a full range of tactical airlift and support missions in response to global mobility and humanitarian requirements. Its homeland mission is to deter, respond to and recover from any attack on the U.S., and to help secure and stabilize the public safety of Minnesota.

As an Aircraft Hydraulic Systems Specialist, you are the backbone of the aircraft maintenance team. You'll be responsible for everything dealing with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.  You are the principal advisor for all aircraft when hydraulic issues occur, and you'll be in charge of repairing and maintaining all related ground equipment. <p>When your primary mission is in the clouds more than on land, the weather plays a huge part in mission success. It's the Weather Specialist's job to keep a constant watch over one of the greatest threats to the safety of Air Guard pilots and aircrew. In this job, you'll analyze weather conditions, prepare forecasts, issue weather warnings and brief weather information to pilots. You'll learn to read and interpret weather satellite imagery, climatology reports, computerized weather prediction models and Doppler weather radar imagery. You'll operate a weather radar console and a high-frequency pilot-to-metro radio, as well as analyze and forecast weather elements such as clouds, visibility, winds, atmospheric pressure and many other parameters.</p><p>Weather Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Characteristics and principles of atmospheric weather and space environment</li><li>Observation, analysis, prediction, and integration of weather and space environment information</li><li>Operation and operator maintenance of fixed and deployable meteorological and space weather instruments and systems</li><li>Operation and operator maintenance of communications and computer systems</li><li>Use of weather products from operational and strategic centers</li><li>Military weapons systems and decision-making processes</li><li>Combat field skills</li><li>Visual acuity correctible to 20/20</li></ul> Weather

Aircraft fuel systems are complex, which is why it takes highly trained specialists to maintain, troubleshoot and repair them. As an Aircraft Fuel Systems specialist, you'll learn every inch of a plane's fuel system, and you'll become an expert in your field, gaining skills that are transferable into a rewarding civilian career. <p>Whether it's at your local Air Guard unit or in a temporary disaster relief facility, electricity is vital to Air Guard operations. As an Electrical Power Production Specialist, it'll be your job to get it there and to keep the power supply fully functional.
