U.S. and Cambodia Launch Campaign Against Counterfeit Drugs

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Health will launch a national public outreach campaign to raise awareness on the dangers of counterfeit and substandard medications.  Jeff Daigle, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., and H.E. Chou Yin Sim, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, will unveil a specially designed poster, featuring the winning slogan from a nation-wide contest that attracted over 2,000 entries.  The posters will be displayed in pharmacies all around Cambodia.

Members of the media wishing to attend the event must register in advance by contacting the U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, by telephone at 023-728-258 or by e-mail at ChreaV@state.gov.  Registered participants must arrive at the Embassy no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the event to allow adequate time for security screening.
