Defensive Driving Tips for Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers: An Internet-based Approach |
The primary objective of this research is to provide fleet safety managers and commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers with defensive driving tips regarding common large truck safety events. More specifically, the goal of this study is to generate examples of defensive driving "do's" and "don'ts" for CMV drivers based on the video collected during other FMCSA-sponsored research.
These safe driving tips may be useful for driver safety program development as they give drivers explicit examples of what CMV drivers do well and what behaviors need to be modified (and how they should be modified). A user friendly Web site has been launched, providing defensive driving techniques for common hazards and risky driving behaviors encountered by CMV drivers. Fleet safety managers and CMV drivers are the primary audiences for this Website.
