The Role of Safety Culture in Preventing Commercial Motor Vehicle Crashes—TRB
The objective is to provide information that will assist the commercial vehicle safety management community in understanding how and what company safety practices and philosophies enhance safety in the workplace. Specifically, this study will investigate aspects of motor carriers and bus operators that may define the concept known as “safety culture.” These include attitudes, values, norms, and beliefs in regards to risk and safety within bus and truck organizations, as well as visible practices and procedures, and the requisite behaviors that characterize a “safe” commercial operator.
