Drowsy Driver Monitoring System (DDMS) Functional Specification and Field Operational Test (Phases I and II)
FMCSA has two different efforts currently underway to design a DDMS. FMCSA will either combine the research efforts and bring the contractor together to develop a fatigue monitoring system or FMCSA will chose the system that is most viable for monitoring driver fatigue states. The system may use multiple sensors and that must work 24 hours a day in variable lighting conditions and be able to monitor and advise driver of their fatigue levels.
