Swimming Opportunites at

Dale Hollow Lake

Swimming on Dale Hollow Lake is a popular activity.  While visitors can swim almost anywhere on the lake, the use of a designated swim area is highly encouraged. These areas are much safer as they are off-limits to boaters of all kinds. They are marked by “restricted area” regulatory buoys and surrounded by a floating orange pipeline. No lifeguards are present, and swimming is at one’s own risk.  Swimming is not permitted at launching ramps, off courtesy floats, within marinas and other posted areas.

The Corps of Engineers does provide designated swimming areas with adjoining sand beach with restrooms nearby at Obey River Day Use, Lillydale Campground and Day Use, and Willow Grove Campground. Pets, glass containers, and alcoholic beverages are prohibited in beach areas.  Day use areas have a $4 per vehicle user fee charge.

For your safety on Dale Hollow Lake and the other waterways of our nation, learn to swim, never swim alone, and don’t dive.  Wearing a life jacket is your best bet in staying safe while boating or swimming!
