Publications

The following publications provide instructions and resources to help Federal agencies conduct energy action campaigns:

  • Creating an Energy Awareness Campaign; A Handbook for Federal Energy Managers (PDF 3.8 MB): Information on how to plan, design, and implement custom programs, along with resources to evaluate and report results. In addition, this handbook contains tips on sustaining energy-saving behaviors so your agency will continue to save energy long after the initial campaign.

  • Revised Handbook for Promoting Behavior-Based Energy Efficiency in Military Housing (PDF 1.8 MB): Details on energy efficiency outreach campaigns at two military bases. As a result of FEMP's energy efficiency in military housing outreach campaign, an article was published in Environment & Behavior (November 2002) that validates campaign effectiveness in terms of behavior modification and quantification of the impact of energy awareness activities at both facilities.
