Amphibian MonitoringThis program has two main lines of research. First is researching methods that can be used to improve monitoring techniques for amphibians. This includes methods used in the field to sample amphibians as well as methods used to statistically analyze the data that is collected. Our modeling efforts are used to determine the status and trend of amphibian populations given the fact that we can only observe a small portion of the amphibians on the landscape. Our other main line of research focuses on using amphibians as indicator species to determine the effect of ecosystem processes. This can include management actions such as wetland restoration, or large-scale processes like climate change. Guide to the amphibians of LouisianaResearch
