Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Specialists are the most skilled and courageous Airmen in the entire Air National Guard. They are Ranger and Airborne qualified, proficient in air assault, scuba operation, and various parachute tactics, and maintain the highest physical and mental standards. You'll find TACP Specialists imbedded on the front lines of war among Army and Marine Special Force units to provide U.S. and allied forces with tactical air support for ground attack fighters. As a TACP Specialist, you and your team engages enemy forces utilizing advanced technologies and weapon systems to direct air strikes in close proximity of friendly forces. You control and execute operational air and space power, and may operate in the most austere combat environments independent of an established airbase or its perimeter defenses.
Tactical Air Control Party Specialists are specially trained in:
- Theater air and space operations
- Weapons systems and munitions characteristics and capabilities
- Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities
- Targeting systems
- Close air support tactics, techniques and procedures
- Military Decision Making Process
- Joint fires integration
- Tactical communications and computer procedures and equipment
- Data links
- Antenna theory
- Map, global positioning equipment, navigation techniques, and military symbology
- Small unit tactics
- Close quarter combat
- Signaling and marking
- Individual and crew-served weapons employment
- Battlefield lifesaving procedures
- Chemical warfare defense equipment
- Must maintain Secret security clearance

TRICARE Medical Insurance - Medical Coverage is available in different options necessary to meet the needs of different individuals. From individuals to families insurance is available for those in full time or part time status to ensure coverage is available. Families and Part-time members coverage is offered through TRICARE Reserve Select and is a premium-based health plan available worldwide to Selected Reserve members of the Ready Reserve (and their families) who are not eligible for, or enrolled in the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program.
