Law Enforcement Online Enterprise Portal (LEO-EP)
The FBI's Law Enforcement Online Enterprise Portal (LEO-EP) is an important component of the Bureau's Federated Identity Management. The goal of the LEO-EP is to provide access to beneficial resources for law enforcement, intelligence, and criminal justice communities by using single sign-on technology. Law Enforcement National Data Exchange (N-DEx) Program: Outreach and Communications Support
The Law Enforcement National Data Exchange (N-DEx) system is an Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) program that provides law enforcement agencies with a powerful new investigative tool. N-DEx enables participating law enforcement agencies to search, link, analyze, and share criminal justice information (e.g., incident/case reports and arrest data, booking and incarceration data, probation/parole data, and expanded Department of Justice (DOJ) data sources) on a national basis to a degree never before possible. N-DEx allows participating law enforcement agencies to detect relationships between people, places, things, and crime characteristics, and to link information across jurisdictions. N-DEx has been developed in collaboration with the law enforcement community, and is accessible to authorized users within law enforcement and criminal justice communities.
In order to build efficient and effective data exchange and information sharing among local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is working with the CJIS Division of the FBI to design and deliver a national N-DEx educational outreach program. IACP is facilitating this nationwide outreach to expand awareness and knowledge of the N-DEx system, increase participation in the program, and create a stronger bond and community of practice among law enforcement agencies nationwide. Members of the IACP/FBI N-DEx team regularly attend and make presentations at law enforcement meetings and conferences around the nation.

Suspicious Activity Reporting: Line Officer Training
The Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI) is an outgrowth of a number of separate but related activities over the last several years that respond to the mandate to establish a unified process for reporting, tracking, and accessing suspicious activity report in a manner that rigorously protects the privacy and civil liberties of Americans, as called for in the National Strategy for Information Sharing (PDF).
As part of the NSI, the IACP aims to further enhance the current role of law enforcement in collecting, analyzing, and reporting suspicious activities and criminal behavior encountered during routine operations by offering training and assistance to front-line officers. In doing so, the IACP has developed a 12-minute training video designed for front-line law enforcement officers to encourage SAR reporting from law enforcement jurisdictions to one of the federally recognized Fusion Centers serving their area. The purpose of this video is to enhance awareness of and train officers on suspicious activity reporting based upon documentation of observed behavior indicative of criminal activity with possible connections to terrorism. The SAR process also enables Fusion Centers to analyze and share identified suspicious activity with law enforcement agencies.
The NSI is a partnership among state, local, tribal, and federal agencies, including the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ); the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment (PM-ISE); the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS); the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD); and the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative. This effective partnership provides law enforcement with another tool to combat crime and terrorism.
