IACP and Motorola present:
Women’s Leadership Institute

Charlottesville, VA

February 24 – March 1, 2013

The IACP Center for Police Leadership and Training, with funding from Motorola, proudly introduces a new leadership certification program, the Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI). The WLI program is a five and a half day, 46-hour course, focused on the unique challenges facing women leaders in law enforcement.  To develop current and future leaders, the curriculum focuses on enhancing the business, leadership, and personal effectiveness skills of female leaders.  The course is open to female and male, sworn and non-sworn personnel serving in supervisory positions, and to senior patrol officers aspiring to become supervisors.

This interactive program uses senior women instructors and mentors from United States and Canadian law enforcement agencies and operates in an intensive experiential learning environment.   Theories included in the program are gleaned from IACP’s research on leading people, groups, and change.  Other topics covered include: effective communication and conflict management; career mapping; fair, impartial, and ethical policing; transformational leadership; and stress management.  Evening sessions include one-on-one time with instructors and mentors to assist participants with designing a strategic plan for their career.

Tuition for the institute, which begins with a Sunday evening seminar and concludes midday Friday, including both day classes and evening seminars, is $695.00.

Lodging and meals for the program are being provided to IACP for the participants at a reduced rate by the Boars Head Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia, where the Institute will be held.  The Boar’s Head Inn is an award-winning hotel with AAA Four Diamond Award dining, first-class accommodations and amenities that include golf, tennis, bicycling, hiking, fishing and a fitness club and spa, all within the grounds of its 573-acre Virginia estate. The IACP has been able to negotiate federal government rates for a week of meals and lodging, inclusive of taxes and gratuity. Rates are also available for commuter students.

Enrollment is open now!
