Opportunities for Employment
As the business world’s reliance on computer technology continues to expand, so do the job prospects for information technology graduates. Graduates begin their careers as entry-level programmers and then, after several years, progress to senior programmer, and finally to systems analyst or business analyst. Opportunities for programmers familiar with a variety of programming languages and particularly newer languages that apply to computer networking, database management, and artificial intelligence remain abundant.
Salary Expectations
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the average starting salary for college graduates with a bachelor degree in the computer sciences is $38,000 to 53,000. With added experience, the median salary range increases to $62,000 to $124,800.
BS - Business Information Systems Program Format
Within five years of your application to admission into the Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems (BSBIS) program you must transfer course work in the area of computer information systems or technology.
BSBIS students have additional admission requirements, which include:
- One course in programming (3 sch)
- One course in networking fundamentals (3 sch),
Earning a degree in Business Information Systems requires a total of 127 semester credit hours. You can transfer of up to 82 credit hours and a minimum of 45 credit hours (15 courses) taken while in residence at Walsh College. The BSBIS program requires completion of all courses in the professional core and major.
Equivalency guides outline the courses transferable to Walsh as prerequisites to advanced course work and for completion of degree requirements.
The * courses are typically transferred from a community college or another accredited educational institution. Additional transfer equivalencies may be established, depending on the course taken and the transfer tuition.
