How can I apply for benefits if I live outside the United States?
You can apply for retirement, disability, spouses, or Medicare benefits online. To apply for another type of Social Security benefit, contact an office that provides Social Security services for your area.

Generally, claimants must apply for Supplemental Security Income in the United States. However, blind and disabled children of military personnel stationed overseas can apply abroad.
