Runyan Hosts 4th Senior Health and Wellness Fair

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday August 23rd, Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) hosted a senior health and wellness fair in Ocean County.  The fair, which was located at the Berkeley Township Recreation Center, was well attended by hundreds of senior citizens and their families.

“I was amazed by how many seniors stopped by the event on Thursday,” said Congressman Runyan.  “I was pleased that all of the folks I met at the event enjoyed their time there and were able to take advantage of the many free health screenings.  This event provided a great opportunity to the residents of Ocean County to speak with representatives from federal, state, and local agencies about the many health related issues they face.”

Attending hospitals included Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Community Medical Center, and Southern Ocean Medical Center.  These hospitals offered a variety of health screenings and information about other services they offer at their facilities.  All of these services offered at the event were provided free of charge to the attendees.

Also on hand were the Social Security Administration and the Ocean County Department for Senior Services.  These organizations were available throughout the day to answer any questions from seniors or their family members.   Local and federal agency representatives were also able to help the attendees with any problems and ensure they will be resolved quickly.

This is the 4th Senior Health and Wellness Fair that Congressman Runyan has convened since taking office in January 2011.
