Blocking access to my personal information

How do I block access to my personal information?

If you block access to your record, no one, including you, will be able to access or change your personal information online or by using our automated telephone service. Your account will remain blocked until you call us or visit a Social Security office and request that your account be unblocked.

You can do this online.

Or you can do this by telephone:

  • Call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778); and
  • Listen carefully to the menu choices and follow the instructions.

Give us some feedback.
