Laredo Sector
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is removing and controlling Carrizo cane along the U.S. - Mexico international border in the U.S. Border Patrol Laredo Sector, Texas. The project consists of removal and control of cane along a 1.1 mile stretch of the Rio Grande River. The project is being executed along a segment of the U.S. - Mexico international border currently experiencing high levels of illicit cross-border activity.

CBP is committed to removing and controlling Carrizo cane in an environmentally responsible manner. Environmental planning helps CBP carry out this commitment. As a part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, CBP works in a collaborative manner with local government, State, Native American Nation, and Federal land managers, as well as with the interested public, to identify, understand, and, to the extent possible, minimize impacts to the environment.

CBP is also committed to consultation with the Department of the Interior, the Department of Agriculture, and property owners in the United States to minimize the impact on the environment, culture, commerce, and quality of life for the communities and residents located near the sites where tactical infrastructure is being constructed.

For the Laredo Sector project, the completed Environmental Assessment is provided, as well as the signed Finding of No Significant Impact.
