Fiscal Year 2012 MCSAP High Priority Grant Awards

Purpose: To support, enrich, or evaluate State CMV safety programs and to accomplish these objectives: implement, promote, and maintain national programs to improve CMV safety; increase compliance with CMV safety regulations; increase public awareness about CMV safety; provide education on CMV safety and related issues, and demonstrate new safety related technologies.
Authorization: Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, Pub. L. No.109–59, § 4107(a), 119 Stat. 1144, 1719–20 (2005), as amended by SAFETEA-LU Technical Corrections Act of 2008, Pub. L. 110-244, §4101(a), §4107, 122 Stat. 1572, 1616, as amended by Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century, Pub. L. No.112-141, §§ 32603(a), 32603(d), 126 Stat. 405, 807, 808 (2012).
Statue: 49 U.S.C. §§ 31104(a), 31104(k) (2006), as amended.
Grantees: States, local governments, US Territories & Commonwealths, the District of Columbia, & organizations representing Government agencies that employ & train qualified officers & employees in coordination with State motor vehicle safety agencies.
