Mission

The Testing Center provides a professional and secure environment for test administration for Walsh College students and members of the community. We adhere to nationally recognized standards and guidelines and promote honesty, integrity, and fairness in all procedures.

 

The Testing Center is located at the Troy Campus in room 120. All make-up and ETS MFT testing is conducted on a walk-in basis and testing for the MTELP and non-Walsh exams are by appointment only.

Testing Guidelines
The following rules apply to students who utilize the Troy Campus Testing Center for test taking.
  • Student must present photo identification. Tests will not be administered without proper identification.  Acceptable forms of identification include:
    • Government issued ID such as a driver’s license, state ID or current passport.
    • Walsh student or staff ID
  • Student must sign the Testing Center Policies and Procedures form.
  • Only items designated by the instructor or director of student outcomes assessment will be permitted in the testing area.
  • Personal items are to be stored in the designated area.
  • All tests must be completed within the allocated examination time and 10 minutes before the Testing Center closes.
  • Payment for non-Walsh exams must be paid in full prior to testing.
Make-up Exams
Faculty members may request proctoring services for individual students who have missed a scheduled classroom exam. Students must make arrangements through their instructors in order to take a make-up exam.

Make-up testing is available at the following campuses:

Troy Campus: Instructors coordinate make-up testing with the faculty secretaries. The faculty secretaries may be reached at 248-823-1635 or by e-mail at troyfacultysupport@walshcollege.edu.
 
Novi Campus: Instructors coordinate make-up testing with the Novi librarians. The librarians may be reached at 248-679-1410 or by e-mail at librarian@walshcollege.edu.
 
University Center at Macomb Community College: Instructors coordinate make-up testing with the staff at the University Center at Macomb Community College. The University Center staff may be reached at 586-723-1500 or by e-mail at universitycenter@walshcollege.edu.

Online and Virtual Blended Classes
Faculty members who teach online or virtual blended classes may request proctoring services through the Troy Campus Testing Center for individual students. Instructors must send an e-mail to the Testing Center and attach a completed Test Procedures and Routing form.

Proctoring services are also available at the Novi Campus library for online and virtual blended courses. Instructors must send exam instructions and the student's user name and password to librarian@walshcollege.edu. Students should contact the Novi library for hours of operation 248-679-1410.

Non-Walsh Exams
The Troy Campus Testing Center provides proctoring services to members of the community. Instructors and students should refer to the Testing Center Guidelines for non-Walsh exams for additional information.

Students must pay a non-refundable $25 fee and schedule an appointment. The proctoring fee must be paid prior to testing and may be paid in person at the Walsh Business Office or online.

Instructors from other colleges and universities must complete and submit the Test Proctor Request form and submit all testing materials to the Testing Center.

MTELP
The Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTELP) is a multiple choice test that covers grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. The test is given to prospective Walsh students who are non-native English speakers as a way to measure the proof of English language proficiency admission requirement. The test is administered at the Troy Campus Testing Center. Prospective Walsh students must first meet with a Walsh advisor to determine if they meet the requirements to take the test. Student education records are protected under the Family Educational Rights Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).  Test scores are student education records; therefore, cannot be released to a third party without written authorization from the student.
