    • LET'S NOT FORGET.... A 1939 US law banned machine guns and sawed off shotguns across state lines after gangsters were killing bankers and other gangsters. How cannot anyone see banning assault weapons after 20 innocent children are killed as the right thing to do?? We are not in the 1776 militia and need weapons(2nd amendment).

    • I had such a wonderful time at the graduation ceremony yesterday, but finally getting to meet you was a real highlight. Thank you for your kind words and advice. I am so honored and pleased to be given a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by you, thank you. You are a real gem.

  2. Yesterday I toured Misquamicut for an update on Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. Town Manager Steve Hartford and the Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Chamber of Commerce are doing great work. Tremendous progress has been made, but we cannot lose sight of the immense challenges still facing our coastal communities.
  3. My op-ed in The Providence Journal on addressing gun violence. It won't be easy, but there's too much at stake not to act now.
  4. I'm proud that as of today the town of Burrillville is officially in District 2. I look forward to representing its great people and businesses.
  5. I just finished the swearing in for the new Congress. I continue to be humbled by the opportunity to represent the great people of Rhode Island. Thank you.
  6. I spoke with Richard Lui on MSNBC today to express my disgust with the NRA's position.
  7. The NRA's message today: "The only solution to gun violence will always be more guns and no one else understands the issue." What a disgrace.
  8. Let's hope that once they see the world doesn't end today, the GOP will realize they have to compromise on a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff.
  9. My congratulations to Nina Yu of Warwick and Sam Finneran of North Kingstown on receiving nominations to the U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy. Both have a passion for helping others.
  10. Speaker Boehner's "Plan B" does not include enough revenue for a balanced plan that truly lowers the debt. And it doesn't fix the sequester. This is not a serious solution to the fiscal cliff.
  11. Deeply saddened by the unspeakable tragedy in Newtown, CT today. Horrifying. Mourning for all of the families affected.
  12. I join my fellow co-chair of the Cybersecurity Caucus, Michael McCaul, in applauding U.S. opposition to international Internet regulations, which were considered this week at the telecommunications conference in Dubai. Strong cybersecurity doesn't mean restricting access.
  13. In the fiscal cliff debate, there's one thing we all agree on: don't raise middle class taxes. The House GOP should #DoTheRightThing and pass tax cut for 98%.
