No Open Source Meetings June-August
The Open Source Community is taking a summer break. Regular meetings will resume in September.
Walsh College is pleased to announce the formation of an Open Source Community that will focus its efforts on Internet technology.
The purpose of this community is to share and educate people within the group on all facets of web development tools and techniques, as well as initiate and publish open source web-based software projects.
The group is open to all Walsh Students and Alumni and is provided free of charge. This is a great opportunity to learn about developing web sites, configuring Linux servers, discussing design patterns, plus numerous other topics related to Internet technology. If you’re already an expert in one of these fields, it’s also a great platform to share your knowledge to help others learn.
To help facilitate the learning process, the Open Source Community will also undertake the development of software projects and websites. This provides numerous opportunities for people to get involved, even if you currently have no web-based technical abilities. There is a need for Project Managers, Technical Writers, Software Testers, Graphic Artists, and of course, Programmers.

Our next meeting is February 9th, Room 199, Troy campus, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Speaker 1: Wally Kulik from Modis will be presenting about career development in the IT field. He will be discussing what technology jobs are hot right now and what skills employers are looking for. If you are currently looking for a job, Wally will tell you the things you need to do...right now! Speaker 2: Eric will be discussing Google. As many of you know, Google is an American based multinational corporation that mainly provides internet services. But did you realize that Google is involved in numerous other projects. We'll talk about some of these projects and why Google is such a cool company.
