GOES-R Space Weather:
Geomagnetic storms can result in hazardous radiation exposure for astronauts, satellite electronics, and aviation flight crews and disrupt power, navigation and communications systems. GOES-R will provide better monitoring of the space environment to improve forecasts and warnings of geomagnetic disturbances that affect Earth.
