Rokita: Attacks in Libya and Egypt are Horrific, Stark Contrast to American Ideals

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement on the attacks in Libya that resulted in the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three staff members, as well as the recent assault on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo:

“These attacks – coming just as America observed the eleventh anniversary of 9/11 – are a horrific reminder of the threats we face as a free republic. This kind of violence stands in stark contrast to the principles of free speech and civil disagreement which make our nation exceptional, and we must never compromise our ideals in the face of terror. We pray for the families of Ambassador Stevens and the others who died, and we honor the sacrifices these brave Americans made for their country,” said Rokita.
