When she began studying for a Walsh Master of Science in Finance in the late 1980s, Laurie Macaddino had changed careers, had a business, and was getting ready to start a family. Growing up, Robert Naftaly didn’t have a career plan. However, his uncle,  Sam Geller (Diploma ’39; Distinguished Alumnus ’86; Trustee ’73-’94), had one for him. “He said, ‘This is what you’re going do: Take bookkeeping in high school. When you get out of high school, work with me in the accounting firm and go to Walsh at night to become a CPA.’” Read more.

Jeff Littmann has always loved sports, but didn’t set out to be in the sports business or expect to become CFO of an NFL team. He got there with his Walsh know-how, and by serving clients well in his accounting and taxation career at Arthur Andersen. Read more.

When James Knusalla landed in Michigan to usher in the new century as a Y2K technician for Compuware clients, the auto industry was doing well. By the time he earned a BBA at Walsh in 2008, the bottom had fallen out and he was about to lose his job at Ford. Read more.

During World War II, enrollment dwindled at Walsh Institute as young men and women went into the service or put their schooling aside to meet wartime workforce demands. However, Walsh marketer and administrator Archie Waring continued to make recruiting visits to local high schools. He convinced Paul Baker, Detroit Central High Class of ’43, that the Pace Course in Accountancy and Business Administration taught at Walsh would be good for his future. Read more.
     
   

Michael Wild, Diploma − Accountancy and Financial Administration, 1935

At 99, Michael Wild was the oldest graduated member of Walsh College. He remained connected to his alma mater, joining the 90th Anniversary Homecoming celebration at the Troy campus on Sept. 22. Mr. Wild died on December 15, 2012. Read more.
