102 Arrests Made at Dulles, Reagan Washington National Airports

Summary
In an OIG-led investigation, Federal agents arrested 102 airport employees at metropolitan Washington, DC’s major airports for falsifying information their on applications for security badges, required to gain employment. As of April 29, an additional 5 had been detained, bringing the total to 107 arrested. Earlier, Federal grand juries in Alexandria, VA, and Baltimore, MD, handed down 130 criminal indictments of employees at Dulles International, Ronald Reagan National, and Baltimore-Washington International airports. The Federal task force responsible for checking backgrounds, indicting, and arresting the employees comprised officials from OIG, the FBI, U.S. Customs Service, Social Security Administration OIG, INS, U.S. Marshals Service, Virginia State Police, and airport police.
