Goals

Federal laws and regulations set multiple sustainability goals and requirements for Federal agencies spanning energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, and alternative fuel use.  Below are the goals that Federal agencies (including DOT) are scored and measured against.

  • Goal 1: Green House Gas (GHG) Reduction and Maintenance of Agency Comprehensive GHG Inventory
  • Goal 2: Buildings, Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) Initiative Schedule, and Regional and Local Planning
  • Goal 3: Fleet Management
  • Goal 4: Water Use Efficiency and Management
  • Goal 5: Pollution Prevention and Waste Reduction
  • Goal 6: Sustainable Acquisition
  • Goal 7: Electronic Stewardship and Data Centers
  • Goal 8: Agency Innovation and Government-Wide Support
